A Day in the Life: What to Expect

This Sports Medicine Physician role is highly outpatient-focused, working with active individuals, athletes, and sports teams to optimize their performance, prevent injuries, and facilitate rehabilitation. The position is ideal for someone who enjoys non-surgical sports medicine with a mix of clinical care and procedures.

• Outpatient & Rehab Focus: The role is predominantly outpatient, managing post-surgical rehab, acute injuries, and chronic musculoskeletal conditions.
• Work Setting: Minimal inpatient or hospital coverage, with the majority of cases handled in an outpatient setting.
• Call Schedule: Covers Banner Estrella ED only, every other week.
• APP Support: A well-trained PA is already in place, assisting with patient management, rehab oversight, and clinical workflow.

Responsibilities:

• Evaluate, diagnose, and manage sports-related injuries and musculoskeletal conditions.
• Develop individualized treatment plans that may include therapy, injections, immobilization, and rehabilitation exercises.
• Conduct pre-participation physical exams for athletes and sports teams.
• Work closely with physical therapists, orthopedic surgeons, and rehabilitation specialists to coordinate patient care.
• Provide preventive care and education on injury prevention, conditioning, and optimizing sports performance.
• Perform minor procedures such as joint injections, ultrasound-guided interventions, and fracture management.
• Stay up to date with advancements in sports medicine, including new rehabilitation techniques and treatment innovations.
• Maintain accurate patient records, ensuring comprehensive documentation of diagnosis, treatment plans, and follow-up care.

Requirements:

• MD or DO License in Arizona (or ability to obtain)
• Completion of Residency/Fellowship in the USA (excluding Puerto Rico)
