Position Title: Overnight Camp Nurse
Camps: North Woods Camp for Boys and Pleasant Valley Camp for Girls

Position Summary:
In partnership with another nurse, this position provides healthcare for all camper and staff on site. In addition, the role includes the management of all aspects of our health center. We have options for employment for a minimum of a 2-week camper session as well as options to work longer. Nurses report one day prior to the session check-in date and stay through the contracted check-out date. In some cases, we have spots for more than one nurse, so you could join us with one of your nurse friends. This is a great position for school nurses or nurses who are accustomed to working with children! All positions have a returning nurse working with you so you can train and hopefully join us again the following summer.

Through our network of facilities and program sites, the YMCA provided health and wellness programming, childcare, summer camp, youth sports, and teen leadership programs, as well as work-force development and community outreach.
General Camp information:
Pleasant Valley and North Woods are partnering camps on the same property, offering two separate experiences and cultures. Our camps are located on Lake Winnipesaukee and share over 200 acres of wooded area to spend the summer in. We offer a variety of activities for campers to experience- from water skiing and sailing to archery and our very own ropes course. Campers follow a daily schedule of activities throughout the day and participate in larger activities with the whole camp in the evening. Staff are encouraged to participate with campers in activities to make lasting memories and genuine connections. The Overnight Camp Website can be viewed here:

1. Keeps the safety of campers as the priority. Emphasizes personal safety and emotional well-being with campers, parents, and other camp personnel always.
2. By personal example, helps interpret the quality of YMCA values to campers, parents, and staff. Must be a positive role model.
3. Keeps daily attendance records of the infirmary and stays alert to staff and camper needs.
4. Dispense medication at proper times.
5. Ensures health and safety of campers and staff.
6. Communicates specific camper health concerns (allergies, special diets) to staff.
7. First aid for minor injuries.
8. Medical record keeping.
9. Liaising with local doctors, hospitals, and pharmacies.
10. Communicate with parents as needed.
11. Accompany sick/injured campers or staff to hospital.
12. Participate in camp activities or events.
Education and Experience
1. RN or LPN Degree
2. ER and/or pediatric unit experience preferred but not required.
Skills and Competencies
1. Ability to adapt to different environments and schedules
2. Team player who is responsible and hardworking
3. Good bedside manner, friendly and personable
4. Strong assessment abilities
5. Prior experience with children (does not have to be in a medical capacity)
6. Willing to obtain appropriate state licensure
