Job Description

We are looking for an experienced Commercial Insurance Underwriter to join our team. This position is primarily remote, though we prefer candidates located in Florida, or other states along the Gulf Coast or Eastern Seaboard.

As a Commercial Auto Insurance Underwriter, you will report to the Underwriting Operations Manager. Your main responsibilities will include reviewing new business submissions to determine eligibility and evaluating applications for coverage to assess the acceptability of risk. You will also assess whether additional information is needed before making coverage decisions and will be involved in determining if an account should be declined, in collaboration with the Underwriting Operations Manager.

Key Responsibilities:

- Review initial submissions from prospective insureds and agents.
- Prepare quotes and maintain communication with the insured/agent until the policy is bound or it's decided not to move forward.
- Price and rate new submissions in accordance with established guidelines and collaborate with the Underwriting Operations Manager.
- Foster strong relationships with insureds and agents.
- Provide excellent customer service.
- Contribute to meeting and maintaining production goals.
- Support Underwriting Assistants in tasks such as reviewing endorsement requests and verifying bind request accuracy.
- Assist Renewal Underwriters with tasks including renewal evaluations, revision processing, and bind request reviews when necessary.
- Perform various administrative tasks as needed.

Qualifications:

- 3-5 years of commercial insurance underwriting experience.
- Strong communication and customer service skills (both verbal and written).
- Excellent attention to detail.
- A college degree is preferred, but not required.
