CNA Job Description:

• Must be listed on the NC Healthcare personnel registry as a Nurse Aid I
• Must have minimum of one (1) full year employment in direct patient care in home health and/or, hospital, or nursing home within the past five (5) years
• Must be free from health problems that may be injurious, to the patient or aide as he/she performs delegated tasks
• Must have the emotional and mental maturity necessary for establishing and maintaining a good work relationship with the patient, patient's family, and the personnel of the agency.
• Must demonstrate a working knowledge of the basic functions of an aide in the home setting, including:
  • Daily hygienic care of patients.
  • Techniques of moving, patients and assisting them to and from bed
  • Serving and feeding patients
  • Preventing spread of disease by proper disposal of infected material
• Must possess a knowledge of the working environment of a homecare agency
• Must have access to reliable transportation (Employee must be responsible for auto insurance coverage, for this agency will not be responsible for any damage or injuries that might occur while employee is en route to or from the patient's residence)
• Must have valid TB SKIN TEST
• Must have a valid CPR CARD
• Must have Hepatitis B documentation or Declination

Agency Organization:
These services shall be provided under the supervision of a Registered Nurse.

• Bathing
• Mouth Care
• Skin Care
• Hair Care
• Nail Care
• Bed Making
• Dressing and Undressing

Body Mechanics:

• Turning and position
• Transferring
• Assist with Ambulation
• Range of Motion Exercises

Nutrition:

• Prepare patients for meal time
• Feed patients
• Record Intake and Output
• Force and Restrict Fluids

Eliminations:

• Use of Bed Pan or Urinal
• Bowel and Bladder training
• Perineal/Catheter Care
• Assistance with Douches & Enemas
• Empty drainage devices

Special procedures:

• Take and monitor vital signs
• Monitor Height & Weight
• Application of heat and cold
• Clean & Document Dressing Changes
• Apply ace bandages
• Assistance with TEDs
