The Guest Experience You'll Create

The Vice President, Communication, based at Continental’s Home Office in Troy, MI, will report directly to the Senior Vice President of Marketing & Sales.

This executive will be responsible for building and leading a comprehensive internal and external communication strategy by aligning closely with Executive Leadership on vision and priorities. This role will be at the helm of Continental’s brand voice and maintain consistency across all platforms. They will own crafting and sharing the Continental story for use by the sales team, marketing and the company overall.

The VP, Communication will also oversee employee engagement messaging, including communicating the organizations strategic plan as well as public relations, creative services, brand management, and social media. This role will ensure Continental’s brand voice is consistent, compelling, and strategically aligned to support sales growth, employee engagement, and top talent recruitment.

The Guest Experience You'll Create

  • Develop and lead a comprehensive communication strategy that aligns with Continental’s business goals, strategic plan, and objectives, leveraging insights from the employee engagement survey to strengthen organizational culture and retention.
  • Partner with Human Resources on all employee messaging, ensuring consistency, transparency, and impact.
  • Collaborate with Executive Leadership to craft company presentations, business review materials for ownership, and internal communications.
  • Create and implement a company-wide PR strategy to support sales growth, elevate Continental’s reputation, and attract top talent.
  • Oversee the development of the employee communication framework, including newsletters, leadership connects, roadshows, and focus group.
  • Ensure cross-departmental alignment in messaging and communications across all levels of the organization.
  • Direct and manage the company’s creative, brand, social media, and PR functions, ensuring alignment to brand standards.
  • Guide and mentor the communication team including a Sr. Manager, Content and a Sr. Graphic Designer, with additional team members reporting through them.
  • Measure effectiveness of communication strategies using KPIs and feedback from engagement surveys, adjusting plans as needed to drive performance.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to the Senior Leadership Team on communication best practices and change management initiatives.

Ingredients for Thriving

  • Bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Marketing, or related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 15+ years of progressive experience in communications, with at least 5 years in a senior leadership role.
  • Proven success in leading corporate communications, public relations, and employee engagement strategies.
  • Strong understanding of PR, media relations, digital and social media strategies.
  • Experience collaborating with HR and executive leadership on employee communication strategies
  • Exceptional written, verbal, and presentation skills, with the ability to influence at all levels.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead teams, manage multiple priorities, and deliver measurable results
  • Experience in a fast-paced, multi-location, growth-oriented business environment preferred.

This role will have 2 direct reports — a Sr. Manager, Content and a Sr. Graphic Designer — who each oversee additional team members. Together, this team will manage Continental’s social media, PR, creative services, and brand management efforts.
