What You'll Do:

Principal Asset Management is looking for a Target Risk and Manager Research A sset Management Intern to join us for Summer 2026. In this role, you'll gain hands-on exposure to the management of global dynamic risk portfolios with diverse objectives , strategies, and regional focuses.

What You'll Do  

• Contribute to asset allocation decisions across a global investment universe that includes equities, fixed income, and alternative assets  

• Collaborate with analysts on day-to-day portfolio management and reporting, while helping streamline and improve operational processes  

• Support investment decision-making by acquiring , organizing, and summarizing data on markets, macroeconomic trends, special research topics, performance attribution, and risk monitoring  

• Assist with ETF searches, analysis, and monitoring  

• Perform analysis and write commentary for underlying strategy performance  

• Performance monitoring for strategies used in PAA accounts  

• Attend manager review calls – contribute notes, feedback, and learn about various asset classes and investment management styles  

• Improve efficiency of MARS ( Manager Alpha Research & Selection ) reporting processes, including templates used to pull and format data from FactSet  

• Support MARS Private Asset/Alt ernatives research with various tasks  

Who You Are:

• You are working towards an undergraduate degree in economics, finance, accounting, engineering, business analytics, math, statistics, sciences (with investment coursework), or a related major  

• Demonstrated interest in financial markets  

• You have exposure to investments through involvement in student organizations or work experiences  

• Availability to work fulltime, onsite in Des Moines, Iowa for the duration of Summer 2026  

 

Skills That Will Help You Stand Out  

• Prior investment experience through work experience or student organizations  

• Strong written and verbal communication skills  

• Leadership positions within student, work or community organizations  

• Strong work ethic  

Salary Range Information: Salary ranges below reflect targeted base salaries. Non-sales positions have the opportunity to participate in a bonus program. Sales positions are eligible for sales incentives, and in some instances a bonus plan, whereby total compensation may far exceed base salary depending on individual performance. Actual compensation for all roles will be based upon geographic location, work experience, education, licensure requirements and/or skill level and will be finalized at the time of offer. Salary Range: $29 - $29 / hour Time Off Program: Paid company holidays and any time off required in your state. Pension Eligible: No Additional Information:

Location  

This internship will be located at Global Headquarters in Des Moines, Iowa.  

Internship Stipend  

You will receive a lump sum stipend of $3,000. This amount is intended to support incidental expenses you may incur as part of your internship. The Company will provide a tax gross-up on this stipend as a financial benefit, but is not intended to compensate for all tax liabilities.  

Work Environments  

This role offers the ability for in-office, or four days in-office and one day remote.
