Software Engineer (Mainframe, DevOps)

Our client is in the process migrating from the our existing mainframe SCM, ChangeMan ZMF, to a DevOps-based IDzEE implementation using Bitbucket, Jenkins, and other tools built around a version of IBM Mainframe development accelerators. When the project is completed, the organization will be operating exclusively using the DevOps-based tools. We are seeking Software Engineers with similar experience to support our client's initiatives.

The selected candidate will perform complex analysis, design, development, testing, and debugging of computer software ranging from operating system architecture integration and software design to selection of computer systems, language, and/or equipment. Designs, develops/codes, tests, and documents critical and complex application programs for computer systems. Works with appropriate stakeholders to define system scope and objectives and establish baselines. Establishes project standards and processes. Breaks down software requirements and creates highly complex systems. This position will support the organization by being part of a matrixed team of software development professionals providing application development expertise using the COBOL programming language and environments.

This is a contract position and is mostly remote (onsite 1-2x per month in Reston VA and/or Wash DC). This position will require a final round F2F/onsite interview with our customer in their Washington DC or Reston VA office.

Required Skills

- Experience: Seven (7)+ years of Software Engineering expertise to include the following:

(1) Must have application development expertise using the COBOL programming language and environments (CICS, JCL, TSO/ISPF, ChangeMan, Topaz...etc)
(2) Very technically proficient in ChangeMan ZMF is a MUST. Excellent knowledge of ZMF integration with such tools as RACF, XPEditer, JobScan, Email via SMTP, CICS, DB2, ISPF/TSO, Dialog Manager Panels/Skeletons and REXX programming
(3) Proficient Knowledge of database technologies (e.g. DB2, cloud, SQL, Oracle, Mongo DB, PostgreSQL, etc.)
(4) Strong DevOps / IDzEE knowledge / best practices / CI/CD pipelines experience with Deployment/Continuous Integration/Continuous Testing/ Continuous Delivery processes and tools and have expertise in CI/CD tools and framework

Big Plus:
- Prior migration from ChangeMan ZMF to DevOps (IDZEE)
- Java development experience
- AWS Cloud
