Job Description
We are looking for a skilled Senior Staff Accountant to join our team. In this role, you'll take charge of General Ledger functions, including preparing financial statements, performing reconciliations, and generating tax reports. You'll have the opportunity to handle special projects within general accounting and contribute ideas to improve processes. This position offers a great deal of independence, and we're looking for someone who can apply sound judgment and creativity to get the job done.
Key Responsibilities:
Reconcile cash receipts journals with deposits
Balance sales journals with batch listings
Reconcile Accounts Receivable aging reports to sales and receipts
Post journal entries to record sales activity
Update dues amortization schedules and post related income journal entries
Prepare journal entries to account for liabilities and assets related to service center billing
Reconcile bank statements and record interest earned on bank accounts
Match IC Verify merchant deposits with bank statements
Prepare journal entries for Leasehold amortization, depreciation schedules for furniture, fixtures, vehicles, and equipment
Reconcile inventory with Rappatoni reports
Record accrued tax liabilities on a monthly basis
Complete balance sheet account reconciliations
Post journal entries for general and administrative (G&A) allocations
Maintain files for contracts, insurance, financials, budgets, taxes, assets, audits, and reconciliations
Process payroll with a third-party supplier
Perform fixed asset inventory tracking
Prepare quarterly sales tax reports and annual property tax reports
Reconcile C.A.R. and NAR liabilities
Provide support for internal and external audits
Nature and Scope:
This role requires the ability to make independent decisions, analyze complex accounting issues, and stay organized. You will be trusted with confidential financial information and are expected to handle it responsibly and professionally.
Supervisory Responsibilities:
This position does not involve supervisory duties.
Qualifications:
To succeed in this role, you should be able to meet the following qualifications:
Available to work from 8 AM to 5 PM, with confidentiality as a top priority
Strong understanding of general accounting methods and ability to apply them independently
Proven ability to solve complex technical accounting issues
Skilled in organizing and prioritizing tasks to meet deadlines
Experience with SAGE software is a plus
CPA credentials preferred
Clear and effective communication skills, both verbal and written
Ability to collaborate in a team environment while managing individual responsibilities
Previous experience in association or non-profit sectors is preferred
Strong attention to detail, with the ability to meet tight deadlines and juggle competing priorities
Commitment to providing excellent customer service
Education and Experience:
A four-year degree in Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field is required.
Significant experience with advanced accounting methods is preferred.
Computer Skills:
Proficiency in Microsoft Office and business apps
Comfortable with online platforms and digital tools
Reasoning Ability:
The ability to use sound judgment when dealing with members' concerns, either in person or over the phone, is essential.
