Senior Principal Electrical Engineer – Consultant

Lumentum (NASDAQ: LITE) is a global leader in innovative optical and photonic products enabling optical networking and commercial laser customers worldwide. Lumentum’s commercial lasers enable advanced manufacturing techniques and diverse applications including next-generation 3D sensing capabilities.

We are looking for a Principal Electrical Engineer in power electronics and control systems for the Commercial Lasers research and development group. This position consults the R&D teams in the development of high-power electronics for the all related product developments. It includes close collaboration with the program managers, design leads and direct manager.

Responsibilities Include

• Develop product specifications, schedules and roadmaps.
• Design system architectures for new products and product lines
• Design control systems in both continuous and discrete domains to meet rigorous stability and rise/fall specifications.
• Circuit design and evaluation: analog, digital, power supplies, programmable devices.
• Schematic capture and PCB layout.
• Develop test plans and perform design verification testing
• Resolve complex signal integrity and EMC problems
• Collaborate with NPI teams to document and release all aspects of design to production.

Required Skills

• MSEE or PhD in Electrical Engineering
• 12+ years relevant experience
• Switching power supply design
• Control theory / digital control systems design. DSP algorithms, Analog signal processing.
• Experience with power components: MOSFET, GaN, SIC devices
• Experience with magnetics design.
• C programming expertise, including efficient, real-time programming
• Mastery of digital and analog circuit design and debug
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• VHDL or Verilog and FPGA experience is desired

Pay Range

P80-USA-1 :$138,600.00 - $198,000.00
