About the Company A well-established and respected general contracting firm in the DMV region is seeking a Senior Accountant to join its corporate accounting team. Position Overview The Senior Accountant will play a key role in managing day-to-day accounting operations, supporting project teams, and partnering with leadership to ensure accurate financial reporting. This role is ideal for someone with construction accounting experience who thrives in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Key Responsibilities - Process accounts payable and subcontractor payments
- Manage accounts receivable and cash receipts
- Maintain subcontractor documentation (e.g., lien waivers, contracts)
- File sales & use tax returns (DC, MD, VA)
- Perform monthly bank and general ledger reconciliations
- Oversee invoice workflow and ensure proper routing for approvals
- Support year-end audit with external accounting firm
- Conduct weekly check runs for miscellaneous payables
- Ensure accuracy and efficiency across accounting functions
- Maintain adherence to internal controls
Qualifications - Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field
- 7+ years of accounting experience (construction industry preferred)
- Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Excellent communication and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines
- Public accounting experience a plus
- Familiarity with internal controls and audit processes
