Are you passionate about helping others access the specialized therapies they need? We're looking for a dedicated Patient Navigator to join our team and make a real difference in the lives of patients and their caregivers. As a Patient Navigator, you'll play a vital role in assisting patients with accessing therapy and ensuring long-term follow-up care. You'll collaborate with patients, caregivers, providers, payers, and our internal team to ensure smooth and coordinated care throughout the entire process.
This position may require up to 50% travel, depending on patient and client needs, with office presence in Earth City when not traveling.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient and Caregiver Engagement: Welcome new patients and caregivers, creating patient profiles and ensuring accurate and up-to-date documentation.
Clinical Support and Education: Provide clinical education and support to patients, caregivers, and physicians to ensure clear understanding of the therapies and processes involved.
Insurance and Benefit Management: Conduct insurance verification, process prior authorizations, and communicate coverage details to patients. Assist patients in understanding their benefits, including deductibles, co-pays, and other costs.
Product Distribution Coordination: Oversee the wholesale distribution of specialty products to authorized facilities and follow up on invoice processing.
Financial Assistance and Coordination: Provide patients with information on financial assistance programs and help them navigate their options.
Logistics Support: Coordinate and schedule necessary logistics for patients and caregivers, including transportation and lodging for treatment.
Travel and On-Site Support: Provide in-person support to patients when needed by traveling to treatment centers, ensuring continuous care.
Administrative Duties: Maintain accurate records, assist with ad-hoc reporting, and provide case management services as required. Monitor external resources related to therapy areas.
Team Collaboration: Be a mentor for new team members and assist with maintaining program metrics and monitoring adverse events as outlined in standard operating procedures.
Skills and Qualifications:
Educational Requirements: A bachelor's degree in Nursing (RN or BSN) or a related field.
Licensing: A current, valid Nursing license in good standing, with a willingness to obtain compact or state-specific licensure if required.
Experience: Minimum of two years in medical/pharmacy insurance verification, including benefits investigation, and knowledge of medical terminology.
Knowledge: Familiarity with medical and pharmacy insurance benefits, terminology (e.g., EOBs, co-pays, deductibles), as well as CMS 1500 forms, CPT, HCPC's, ICD9 codes, and Medicare/Medicaid billing practices.
Patient Assistance Programs: Experience with Patient Assistance Programs and prior authorizations is preferred.
Skills: Strong analytical abilities, excellent written and verbal communication skills, and proficiency with Microsoft Office. Ability to thrive in a fast-paced environment and handle competing priorities effectively.
Attention to Detail: Demonstrate meticulous attention to detail and a proactive, team-oriented approach to work.
Flexibility: Willingness to adapt to changing schedules and tasks to meet organizational needs.
