Gain experience in multiple areas of law! Learn directly from a Judge and collaborate with other Law Clerks while helping to provide fair and equal access to justice for Minnesotans. Law Clerks work directly with a District Court Judge performing legal research and drafting memoranda and orders, while gaining insight into judicial court processes at the Trial Court level.
You'll be able to use your legal research and writing skills, work as part of a judge team, and observe all types of court calendars and proceedings. First District Law Clerks have the opportunity to work on a variety of assignments and observe different types of court proceedings including criminal, civil, probate, family, juvenile, and conciliation cases.
This is a temporary position working from approximately June 4, 2025 through August 12, 2025. The preferred candidate will work full-time (40 hours per week); however, part-time applicants will also be considered. The primary work location will be a local court facility, however flexibility for a hybrid option may be available.
Law Clerks work mostly business hours, Monday through Friday. This temporary position is not benefits eligible. The Minnesota Judicial Branch is a participating Public Service Loan Forgiveness (PSLF) employer.
