Summary

The overall mission of the Investigator position is to create a safe environment for employees, contractors, and visitors, as well as prevent or minimize losses to the Project. To achieve this, the major functions of this position include the investigation of crimes against the Project, the investigation of violations of the Project’s internal policies, and conducting Personal Risk Assessments (background investigations). Confidentiality is required, as well as the ability to effectively communicate with individuals of all levels, both inside and outside of the organization.

What You'll Do

• Investigates all criminal acts perpetrated against the Project.
• Establishes sound relationships with SRP Employees, Management and Departments, allowing for a collaborative approach to complex issues in which Security is a component.
• Makes presentations regarding security issues, to include the results of investigations, both criminal and administrative.
• Assists management with investigations and security related issues.
• Conducts assessments on potential threats to the Project and/or its employees and contractors, including both external and internal threats, with an emphasis on personnel safety relating to high risk terminations, insider threat, and workplace violence.
• Conducts physical security surveys of SRP facilities and, as needed, employee homes.
• Conducts background investigations on all new hire candidates, renewing employees, and anyone requiring unescorted access at an SRP facility.
• Provides International Travel Services for SRP employees traveling abroad; maintaining updated knowledge on industry technology utilized; and creating accurate and timely plans and protocols. 
• Establishes and maintains liaison with local, state and federal law enforcement agencies regarding security issues and requirements.
• Maintains evidence and evidence log to preserve continuity of evidence for court.
• Testifies in court regarding investigations.
• Writes reports on any of the above requiring documentation.
• Provides armed security protection for the Project.
• Other duties as assigned by supervision or management.

What It Takes To Succeed

1. Good communication skills, both written and verbal.
2. Ability to analyze information reported by various sources, and determine action to be taken with reference to criminal acts, violations of company policy, or background investigations.
3. Knowledge of sources of information concerning background investigations and Arizona Public Information laws governing the release and use of that information.
4. Knowledge of methods used by criminals to perpetrate crimes and mitigation methods (crime prevention) to reduce or eliminate crimes to SRP employee and assets.
5. Strong computer skills, including knowledge of Microsoft Office products and other types of standard software products; experience utilizing databases to create, store and analyze data; and understanding of open source intelligence tools (OSINT).
6. Ability to conduct interviews and interrogations, as appropriate.
7. Ability to learn, review, and provide analysis from industry and security technology products and systems.
8. Knowledge of applicable Federal and State laws, including the justification of use of force as it applies in the corporate sector in Arizona Revised Statutes (ARS) Title 13. Maintain certification in Arizona under the provisions of the Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act (LEOSA).
9. Ability to work with minimal supervision (self-motivation) and exercise proper assignment and time management skills.

 

 

Experience

A minimum of 10 years’ experience in the law enforcement professions, with an emphasis in prior investigative experience.

 

Must have and maintain, in the State of Arizona, the Law Enforcement Officer Safety Act (LEOSA) certification; or obtain, and maintain certification within 6 months of hire. Must be psychologically qualified to carry a firearm.

 

Senior Level Investigator requires a minimum of 2 years’ experience at Level 2; and certification as a Certified Protection Professional (CPP), Professional Certified Investigator (PCI), Certified Fraud Examiner (CFE) or Certified Threat Manager (CTM), or 4 years’ experience at Level 2 and no additional certification/s.

Education

Completion of an Associate's degree, Apprenticeship, or 60 college credit hours from an accredited institution that prepares the employee for the assignment.

 

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona.
