Human Resources Generalist

Location: Sugar Land, TX (onsite)

Overview

We are seeking a Human Resources Generalist to join a dynamic, fast-paced, and growing manufacturing environment supporting teams across Texas and California. This individual will play a key role in day-to-day people operations, employee relations, and process improvement initiatives while empowering managers to take greater accountability within their departments.

The ideal candidate thrives on structure and efficiency but can adapt quickly as priorities evolve. This is a high-visibility role that works directly with leadership to strengthen culture, drive compliance, and build scalable HR processes across multiple locations.

Key Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted HR partner for leaders and employees, providing practical guidance on employee relations, performance management, and policy interpretation.

  • Manage day-to-day HR operations for two locations, ensuring consistent processes, documentation, and communication.

  • Support and coach managers on how to address personnel issues, solve problems effectively, and maintain accountability within their teams.

  • Conduct and manage training initiatives — including monthly sessions on HR, compliance, and business topics — developing a consistent training cadence across departments.

  • Lead process improvement efforts by identifying gaps, streamlining workflows, and implementing new practices that enhance efficiency and alignment.

  • Collaborate closely with leadership to evolve HR policies, procedures, and forms; ensure compliance with Texas and California labor laws .

  • Oversee time-keeping and attendance accuracy, especially for hourly employees; enforce timecard compliance.

  • Manage the recruiting process for key hourly and professional roles (e.g., machinists, assemblers, administrative). Source, screen, and coordinate interviews via Indeed and LinkedIn; partner with staffing agencies for temp-to-hire roles.

  • Maintain working knowledge of payroll processes and systems (Workday, ADP, or similar), coordinating with accounting as payroll transitions.

  • Support employee engagement initiatives and act as a key liaison between leadership and team members.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.

  • 5+ years of HR generalist experience , preferably within a manufacturing or fast-paced, multi-site organization .

  • Strong understanding of employment laws and practices in both Texas and California .

  • Proven ability to coach and develop managers to foster accountability and employee empowerment.

  • Excellent problem-solving, interpersonal, and written communication skills.

  • Proficient in HRIS and payroll systems (Workday, ADP, or comparable platforms).

  • Experience in recruiting across multiple levels, from hourly to professional roles.

  • High integrity and discretion with confidential information; must be able to build trust quickly.
