While every day at WDI is a new adventure, here is what a day may look like as a Healthcare Career Navigator

8:00 AM – Start the day
You begin your morning by reviewing your schedule. Some days you are onsite at the Rochester Adult Basic Education location, other days you move between offices. You check email and messages from participants, college partners, and colleagues, and review notes from yesterday to prepare for upcoming meetings.

9:00 AM – Participant meetings
Your first meetings are with participants exploring or actively enrolled in healthcare training. You talk through career goals, review progress in programs such as CNA, LPN, medical assistant, or other healthcare pathways, and address any barriers that could impact attendance or completion. You document updates and coordinate next steps.

You connect with employer partners to discuss open positions or workforce needs, or to schedule presentations for the current Career Pathways class. Employer partners assist with mock interviews and presentations to share information about their application, interview, and hiring process. You may support a joint meeting with a participant who needs healthcare-specific guidance.

12:00 PM – Lunch

1:00 PM – Partner collaboration
You meet with a college partner, Adult Basic Education provider, or healthcare employer to coordinate referrals, review enrollment pipelines, or discuss program alignment with workforce demand. These conversations help ensure training and services remain responsive to employer and participant needs.

2:30 PM – Group facilitation or enrollment support
You facilitate a healthcare pathway orientation or support enrollment activities, helping participants understand training expectations, credential requirements, and next steps. You work closely with colleagues to ensure paperwork, eligibility, and documentation are complete.

3:30 PM – Documentation and planning
You update participant records in WF1, log partner interactions, and review upcoming deadlines. You plan participant meetings and partner visits for the coming days to make the most of your time.

4:30 PM – End of day
