We fulfill our mission through counseling, education, and advocacy, primarily in the greater Minneapolis and St. Paul area. The Family Partnership was founded in 1878 as the Minneapolis Humane Society to protect and serve children that were being abused or exploited. Along with a few name changes, our work has continually transformed to anticipate and address the evolving needs of families and individuals, many of whom are the most vulnerable in our community.

Wages and Benefits

$31.25 – $34.50 per hour; Generous paid time off, plus 10 paid holidays; competitive health, dental, and vision insurance; health savings account (HSA), and options for flexible spending accounts (FSA). There is employer paid basic life insurance with the option for additional coverage paid by the employee. The employer pays for Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) and short and long-term disability insurance. TFP sponsors a retirement plan with a tiered vesting schedule based on years of service, plus a 2% employer contribution after one year of service.

SCHEDULE

This position works on a hybrid schedule with one in-office day. The team is in-person on Wednesdays and other days as needed for in-person funder meetings, site visits, etc.

A Typical Day in the Life…

A typical day as The Family Partnership’s Grants Manager provides an opportunity to coordinate all aspects of the agency’s philanthropic grants processes. Responsibilities will include the following:

  • Writing and editing funding proposals.
  • Coordinating the preparation of reports and proposals.
  • Identifying and researching new sources of funding.
  • Notifying appropriate staff of funding opportunities and keeping them informed of key points.
  • Assisting with county, government, and federal grants, including researching, writing proposals, and reporting.
  • Recording and maintaining records to track grants, proposals, and report deadlines.
  • Developing and maintaining relationships with funders, in collaboration with executive team members through site visits, correspondence, phone calls, etc.
  • Building relationships with other community-based organizations for potential collaborative grant opportunities.
  • Ensuring all grants are appropriately coded both in terms of cost centers and in terms of any restrictions as to purpose or time.
  • Working closely with program managers, directors, and vice presidents to ensure that funds are being spent appropriately.

Who You Are

  • You hold a bachelor’s degree in a related field, or you have demonstrably equivalent knowledge gained through alternative courses of study and life experience.
  • You have 3 years of successful writing and research experience, preferably in grant writing.
  • You demonstrate effective written and oral communication skills.
  • You possess excellent project management, planning, and time management skills.
  • You demonstrate a deep understanding of diversity, equity, and inclusion, implicit bias, and structural racism impacting historically marginalized communities.
  • You are knowledgeable about fundraising opportunities and strategies.
  • You have the ability to think strategically to maximize funding opportunities.
  • You possess strong research skills.
  • You have excellent skills in customer service.
  • You have advanced knowledge of word processing and experience with spreadsheets and database management.
  • You hold a valid driver’s license, have access to reliable transportation, and meet TFP’s driving record requirements.
