Mote is developing a first-of-a-kind technology for woody waste biomass that removes CO 2from the air and produces clean hydrogen to help the world meet climate goals, improve air quality, and reduce wildfires. We are developing large-scale projects based on our innovative and groundbreaking process to safely and permanently sequester carbon underground, and we are looking for standout individuals who are driven by reversing climate change to join our growing team, to help build our company and to contribute to our culture.  

The Strategy / Business Development team is responsible for shaping the future of the company through creating industry partnerships and securing commercial partners for Mote’s facilities. We are responsible for generating leads, understanding industry trends, cultivating relationships, scoping and applying for grants and other funding opportunities, and negotiating commercial contracts. We are a group of innovative thinkers, extremely detailed yet able to take a step back and make assessments at a holistic level, driven by efficiency, using our skills at both the Corporate and Project level.

Mote is seeking a qualified grant manager who can take responsibility for existing grants while continuing to source and apply for new grants. The ideal candidate will have a blend of technical and communication skills but most importantly take ownership of all funding related opportunities and is able to lead the team to execute winning applications within the given deadline.

Responsibilities

  • Seeking, sourcing, and reviewing current grants, RFP’s, DOE LPO applications, RINs petitions, and LCFS applications for eligibility and present potential application scenarios to management team for review.
  • Attend any preliminary grant/RFP informational webinars or send RFI’s as needed to ensure that all questions are answered.
  • Initiate communication with external stakeholders and potential grant partners for any supplemental documentation including resumes, letters of support, schedules, technical data, etc.
  • Complete initial drafts, forms applications and coordinate collaboration among the various teams (technical, finance, project, executive etc.) to ensure that the application is complete.
  • Act as the final reviewer for application accuracy and completeness and submit the final application.
  • Manage and update any grant platforms such as SAM.gov, grants.gov, ECivis, etc. as needed for applications and grants.
  • Acting as the main liaison with grant agency and manages existing awarded grants from an administrative perspective including reviewing and compiling all information needed for grant invoicing, quarterly report, and submitting final report documentation. 
  • Support the project team as needed for grant activities including but not limited to attending weekly internal and external grant calls, assisting with deliverables, etc.
  • Reviewing pending legislation that is applicable and providing comments on behalf of the company.

Qualifications

Minimum Qualifications

  • 5 years minimum corporate experience managing grants, projects, or similar task.
  • 3 years minimum experience working on projects with state and federal funding and understands grant processes.
  • Must be proficient in Microsoft Suite and excel at communication and email correspondence.
  • Must work well with managing a schedule and adhering to deadlines.
  • 4-year degree in Business, Finance, Communication or Engineering.
  • Previous experience with Department of Energy grants a plus.
  • Experience with handling, writing, or executing community benefits plans for required grants.
  • A self-starter who takes ownership of a project and drives it to completion.
  • Excels with multiple projects and multitasking.
  • Someone who thrives on thinking and seeking the next funding opportunity and will apply lessons learned for continuous growth and improvement.

At Mote, base pay is one part of our total compensation package and is determined within a range. This provides the opportunity to progress as you grow within a role. Your base pay depends on your skills, qualifications, experience, and location.
