• Support and promote the mission and philosophy of Garrison Forest School
• Take responsibility for being a role model by maintaining an environment that fosters respect among students and colleagues
• Project a professional demeanor in conduct, speech, and dress
• Demonstrate effective time management skills
• Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of child development
• Communicate with students and families in an effective and developmentally appropriate manner
• Support a secure and stimulating environment in which students grow in both autonomy and the ability to work and interact together
• Support a positive atmosphere that teaches and models respect, kindness, and honesty with students, parents, and colleagues
• Promote anti-bias approaches by supporting respectful and affirming learning environments and experiences
• Maintain a safe, healthy, and orderly learning environment, keeping equipment and materials in good condition and keeping storage areas clean and organized
• Possess strong communication skills, a patient and thorough understanding of child development, and the ability to effectively communicate with and support colleagues
• Assume other related duties when requested by administrators
• Establish and maintain positive and effective communication with families
• Work alongside the Administrative team to support a meaningful learning experience for students

Daycare Specific Responsibilities

• Implement classroom activities in absence of the teacher
• Assist the Lead and/or Associate teacher in duties including but not limited to diaper changes/toileting, meal preparation and feeding, nap time preparation, cleaning and organization of the classroom 
• Under the direction of the teacher, assist with executing learning activities and guiding children
• Assist the Lead and/or Associate teacher in transitioning between activities
• Remain in compliance on all Office of Child Care regulations

Qualifications

• All COMAR Staff Requirements must be completed
• Prior experience working with infants and toddlers in a daycare setting preferred
• GFS seeks candidates who will contribute to and are committed to diversity and multicultural educational practices. Demonstrated ability to work in a diverse community is essential.

Pay Range: $15-$18/hr. Rate commensurate with experience.
