St. Jude Children's Research Hospital invites applications for a research faculty position at the assistant/associate member rank (equivalent to assistant or associate professor) to join the newly established Center of Excellence in Neuro-Oncology Sciences (CENOS) . CENOS aims to address foundational biological questions and drive clinically impactful discoveries to advance knowledge and enhance survival outcomes for children with malignant brain tumors. Successful applicants will join a cohort of research groups led by established investigators who study childhood brain tumors from complementary angles. We are seeking an investigator to lead a multidisciplinary research program focused on advancing our understanding of the developmental and tumor biology of malignant childhood brain tumors through application of innovative technologies and/or data science. Key areas of interest include development of human stem cell and organoid models to study mechanisms of tumorigenesis, leveraging 2nd and 3rd generation multi-omics to characterize the tumor microenvironment and discover resistance mechanisms, deployment of cancer neuroscience strategies to study communication networks that promote and maintain malignancy, evaluating novel selective dependencies and resolving the mechanisms governing dependency, and application of machine learning, artificial intelligence, and other advanced data science strategies to enhance diagnostics and treatments for malignant childhood brain tumors. Early career investigators interested in contributing to a culture of excellence at St. Jude are encouraged to apply. St. Jude Children's Research Hospital is a world-class research institution dedicated to pediatric cancer and other catastrophic diseases of childhood. Our mission is to advance research and cures for pediatric cancer, the number one cause of death by disease for U.S. children past infancy. We are the first and only National Cancer Institute (NCI)-designated Comprehensive Cancer Center dedicated solely to children. Our Cancer Center has been recognized with the highest possible ranking of "exceptional" in its two most recent five-year reviews by the NCI. St. Jude is a highly interactive environment offering its faculty a remarkable opportunity to perform groundbreaking independent and collaborative research. We provide long-term institutional support past start-up to facilitate innovation and discovery. St. Jude provides an impressive array of shared resources and core facilities to support research and discovery efforts across the institution relevant to pediatric cancer. This includes an extensive biorepository of clinical samples, patient derived xenografts, and genomic datasets matched to patients enrolled on St. Jude clinical trials. CENOS investigators have access to specialized departmental shared resources that include cutting edge live cell imaging, image processing & image data science, human stem cells, cell sorting and advanced animal behavior assessment. Our institutional commitment to lead in the cutting-edge imaging required for cancer neuroscience includes investments in advanced systems that include Lattice Light Sheet & MOSAIC microscopes, Helios and Teneo 3D electron microscopes, multiphoton microscopes with resonant scanning and optogenetic capabilities as well as a variety of super-resolution modalities. We offer highly competitive packages, including substantial startup funds, equipment, laboratory space, personnel support and institutional support beyond the start-up phase. CENOS faculty reside in the Advanced Research Center, a 625,000 square foot facility designed to house cutting-edge technologies and resources to transform science and accelerate discoveries. Successful applicants may hold a PhD and/or MD degree, have at least three years of relevant postgraduate experience, and a demonstrated track record of productivity. You will join a collaborative network of basic, translational, and clinical investigators conducting high-impact, interdisciplinary research.
