Position Summary:

Derrel’s Mini Storage, Inc. is looking for a full-time Electronics-Field Technician . Under the direction of the Technical Supervisor, the Electronics-Field Technician will be responsible for purchasing, inspecting, testing, repairing, installing, and maintenance for the following areas: access control, alarm systems (single office and multiplexed multiple buildings), micro wave communication systems, automation, low voltage control circuits, and video systems, both IP and analog.

This position would include projects throughout Central California, from Sacramento to Bakersfield. Overnight stays are occasionally required. This position works regularly outside and in all weather conditions.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  • Reproducing, isolating, and diagnosing problems
  • Use signal generators to provide test signals, and display those signals on an oscilloscope
  • Adjust and replace defective circuitry and electronic components to correct problems
  • Use software programs to perform test and measurement
  • Interpret specifications, plans, and work orders and communicate technical information
  • Visit construction sites to observe conditions affecting design
  • Perform test and measurement tasks including troubleshooting, repair, and calibration
  • Soldering using the IPC standards
  • Perform some training and assist fellow team members
  • Procure and inventory electronic parts
  • Utilize established Best-Known Methods on assigned product lines
  • Follow assembly work instructions, drawings, quality assurance procedures, and directives from department leads
  • Evaluate the performance of system boards under simulated conditions
  • Calibrate electronic devices and perform indicated repairs
  • Perform electrical assembly tasks, including prototyping circuits from building schematics
  • Maintain department cleanliness
  • Overtime required

Required Qualifications:

  • Proficient in evaluating and troubleshooting various technical areas
  • In-depth understanding of electricity and mechanical equipment
  • Must have basic hand tools required of the trade
  • Ability to independently handle multiple work projects
  • Ability to work in all weather conditions, and in potentially confined spaces such as attics and crawlspaces
  • Ability to perform the physical aspects of crawling, bending stooping, kneeling, crouching reaching, pulling, pushing, grasping, climbing or work from a Man Lift apparatus, work on roofs, and lift up to 40 pounds, working with general hand tools and ladders are required
  • Establish and maintain cooperative working relationships from diverse age, ethnic, cultural, and socio-economic backgrounds
  • Clean California Driver’s License record

Required Qualifications:

  • Three or more years of experience working with other team members in areas such as: electronics, electronic mechanical systems; low-voltage control; test and measurement; oscilloscope and signal generator; and with software and hardware relating to measuring, diagnosing, adjusting, testing, and repairing equipment
  • Experience in communication busses, internet protocols, refrigeration control, alarm installations, access control systems, or CCTV installation
  • Two-years of university-level electronics
  • Ability to drive a manual transmission
