Job Description

Summary

The Director of Security is responsible for the oversight of the safety and security of both The Seabird Resort and Mission Pacific Beach Resort. This person will respond to guest and employee emergencies, complete incident reports, supervise and train the security staff.  The Security Director will also be responsible to develop, implement, monitor and evaluate the hotel’s safety and security procedures, including fire safety, employee and asset protection.

The salary range for this position is $76,700.00 - $95,900.00. This is the pay range for this position that The Seabird Resort reasonably expects to pay. Decisions regarding individual salaries will be based on a number of factors, such as experience and education.

Responsibilities:

· Complete payroll for the Security department and schedule department colleagues.

· Coach, mentor Security staff as needed based on Hyatt policies.

· Stay connected with third party Security management team and staff.

· Respond to guest and employee emergencies and complete incident reports, escalating to the nurse line and advising of the nurse line as applicable.

· Keep hotel leadership team aware of any BOLO personnel.

· Send out timely communication to staff or leadership as applicable: BOLO’s, incident reports, etc.

· Oversee the key watcher and audit incoming/outgoing key fobs on consistent basis to ensure staff are following policy.

· Communicate closely with Engineering staff to ensure property is maintained in safe manner.

· Oversee property parking structure, including issuing parking cards/decals and tracking license plate numbers.

· Tracking incoming/outgoing vendors, always having a proper logging system.

· Updating the employee entrance door code.

· Auditing CCTV camera footage as necessary for any suspicious activity.

· Coordinating and holding monthly safety meeting, ensuring all departments and staff are in compliance.

· Tracking work comp numbers and communication with HR leadership team on Work Comp updates.

· Presenting safety PowerPoint during orientations.

· Investigate and keep information confidential as needed. Stay professional in all aspects of communication.

· Stay calm in heavy situations. Contact fire department and/or ambulance as needed.

Physical Demands:

  • Long hours sometimes required, including nights and weekends.
  • Ability to stand for long hours at a time and to work in confined spaces as necessary.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.
  • Ability to walk and stand for long hours and comfortable working with all heights. Must be able to climb ladders, etc.

  • Must be able to work well in stressful, high-pressure situations including the ability to handle guest and colleague complaints and disputes and resolve them to satisfactory results.

  • Must have the ability to assimilate complex information, data, etc. from various sources and consider, adjust or modify to meet the constraints of the particular need.
  • Must be effective at listening to, understanding and clarifying concerns and issues raised by team members and guests.
  • Must be able to work with and understand financial information and data, and basic mathematical functions. 
  • Must be proficient in using systems and applications, including Microsoft office, payroll system and other hotel system, such as HotSOS.

Qualifications

· Holds qualifications in Security, Occupational Safety and Health Management 

· Good knowledge of Fire Emergency and Evacuation, and Bomb Threat procedures.

· Good knowledge in managing firefighting equipment, sprinkler systems and smoke detectors and knowledge of occupational health and safety codes.

· Qualified in first aide and equipment.

· Well-developed report writing and investigation skills.

· Good trainer, able to facilitate at all levels.

· Ability to de-escalate situations with colleagues or guests as needed.

· Ability to work well under pressure.

· Well-developed Communication and Customer Relations Skills. 

· Well-developed Computer Skills particularly in the use of MS Office and email. 

· Minimum two to four years work experience as Security Supervisor or team leader in a hotel or large commercial complex.

· Essential knowledge of Travel and Hotel industry.

· Responsible for training all leaders in emergency evacuations

· Hotel experience preferred.

· Exceptional time management, detail and organizational skills.

· Must be able to manage a team and coach appropriately.
