Job Description

Position Overview

The Lead is responsible for leading and executing Purple Label Men’s Tailored Clothing and Outerwear design for the category.  This position will oversee and be accountable for the design process; while maintaining the aesthetic and integrity of the business and balancing the cross functional needs

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

Responsibilities: 

Develop design direction by providing innovative and relevant research and development, alignment to the materials, the market, and an awareness of current and historical trends 

Strong understanding of luxury competitive landscape, prepared research to Creative Director 

Collaborate with Creative Director and Merchandising Team to create a well- balanced and innovative line

Develop product in accordance with line plan, costing needs, sales needs and emerging trends

Support Creative Director in sketching, fittings, pattern analysis, research of new constructions

Develop trims aligned with style needs. Research of trim techniques, finishes and functionality

Lead design cycle for on time handoff of all milestone calendar deadlines

Partnership with cross-functional teams to ensure product is executed with a luxury mindset

Manage direct report, ensure balance of work load

Use initiative when liaising with other teams to bring forward ideas. Lead the creative development, research and idea pool.

Experience, Skills & Knowledge

Proven ability to execute an assortment that captures the vision of creative direction and is aligned with commercial merchandising strategy

Strong understanding of fabric, color, wash, and skins

Inquisitive and innovative mindset

Ability to create a cohesive assortment between categories

Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Expert understanding of garment construction and fit.

• Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite

• Comfortable with creating and leading in a digital culture

• Minimum of 3 days required to be on-site in office

• Experience in design role preferred

• Italian speaking a plus; not required
