We are currently seeking a dedicated Dental Hygienist to join our dynamic team.
Position Overview:
As a Dental Hygienist at Savannah Dental, you will play a crucial role in maintaining and improving the oral health of our patients. Working collaboratively with our skilled dental team, you will perform a range of duties to ensure optimal patient care and satisfaction.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Dental Cleaning:
- Use dental instruments to clean calcareous deposits, accretions, and stains from teeth.
- Employ proper techniques to clean beneath the margins of gums.
2. Periodontal Assessment:
- Examine gums using probes to identify periodontal recessed gums and signs of gum disease.
- Feel lymph nodes under the patient's chin to detect swelling or tenderness indicative of oral health concerns, including oral cancer.
3. Preventive Care:
- Apply fluorides or other cavity-preventing agents to prevent dental decay.
4. Radiography:
- Expose and develop x-ray films to aid in the diagnosis and treatment planning process.
5. Patient Record Management:
- Record and review patient medical histories.
- Chart conditions of decay and disease for diagnosis and treatment by the dentist.
6. Equipment Maintenance:
- Maintain dental equipment to ensure optimal functionality.
- Sharpen and sterilize dental instruments to adhere to strict infection control protocols.
7. Clinical Services and Education:
- Provide clinical services to improve and maintain the oral health of patients.
- Offer health education to patients or the general public to promote good oral hygiene practices.
Qualifications:
1. Graduation from an accredited dental hygiene program.
2. Current and valid state dental hygiene license.
3. CPR certification.
4. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
5. Strong attention to detail and commitment to patient care.
Preferred Qualifications:
1. Experience working in a dental office setting.
2. Certification in local anesthesia and nitrous oxide administration.
