What you will do:

• Uses GPS to collect new Main and Service As-Builts in addition to Replacement and Maintenance Work
• Uses GPS to Retire Mains, Services, and related points
• Becomes familiar using advanced CartoPac (Start Measure, Reverse Vertex)
• Communicates installation standard practices and policies, to contractors and developers
• Prepares inspection reports, including contractor evaluations, completion reports, and service line installation orders
• Resolves complaints and problems with customers, preconstruction personnel, and company crews
• Coaches developers to get projects ready prior to installation
• Documents inspection work in the HUB
• Works within the scope of permit issued by state, county or city when applicable
• Assists with large replacement projects, from design to completion
• Completes paperwork electronically
• Determines specific locations for work to be performed
• Coordinates between company, contractor, builder, and customer at job sites
• Identifies problems at the sites. Interprets policy to developers, contractors, and builders
• Works with developers to coordinate installations
• Ensures services are complete, and confirms data is entered into CORE system
• Verifies services completed by contractors are in compliance with company standards and specifications
• Assists in coordinating work between contractors and developers
• Checks all worksheets for accuracy and completeness before sending to OnBase and Engineering

Who you are :

You have:

• 3+ years’ experience as a Construction Inspector I or equivalent experience along with a High School Diploma or GED
• A solid understanding of state, county and city codes and ordinances related to gas installation and usage in addition to company standard practices, emergency plan and General Agreement
• A valid driver’s license that will be verified upon hire

You can:

• Show knowledge of: GPS data collector, Range Finder (LTI), Barcode scanner, VRS (State of Utah), HUB status and workflows for mains and services
• Read and interpret maps while offering knowledge of all fusion equipment, such as Socket, Butt and Saddle fusion tools in addition to showcasing your understanding of steel and plastic pipe limitations including gas line construction, gas control, pipe joining techniques, and cathodic protection installation

You are:

• An excellent written and verbal communicator with strong interpersonal skills
• Proficient in computer usage and using computer software’s while being able to adapt quickly to technological changes in electronic systems while working independently with minimal supervision
• Skilled in operation of pipeline locator, have basic math skills and can perform under tight time constraints and stressful situations

Working Conditions:

• Work performed outdoors 75-100% of the time, working within an office environment up to 25% of the time and travel will be 76-100% of the time.
• May be required to work unscheduled overtime and weekends and/or holidays to complete projects or meet time constraints
• Occasional travel and overnight stays
• Will work in hazardous environments

Physical Requirements include but are not limited to:

Grasping, kneeling, light – moderate lifting (objects up to 20 pounds), reaching above shoulder, repetitive motion, typing, sitting, standing, visual requirement (able to see screens, detect color coding, read fine print), hearing requirement and the ability to sit at a computer for long periods of time.

Ability to: understand, remember and apply oral and/or written instructions or other information, understand complex problems and collaborate/explore alternative solutions, organize thoughts and ideas into understandable terminology, organize and prioritize work schedule on a short-term basis, make decisions which have moderate impact on the immediate work unit and monitor impact outside this area, understand and follow basic instructions and guidelines, complete routine forms, compose letters, outlines, memoranda and basic reports and communicate with individuals via telephone.
