Job Title: Pastry Chef Assistant

Location: Wildflour Restaurant – 200 Airport Blvd, Ste. 1, South San Francisco

Job Type: Part-time: 30-35 hours per week. Full-time possible.

Reports to: Head Pastry Chef

Wildflour is a casual restaurant/taproom and bakery serving regional beer, customized charcuterie/food boards, and an array of baked goods. It is an ideal gathering space for customers seeking a laid back, yet inspiring dining atmosphere where they can try unique and creative regional creations. Wildflour prides itself as a family-owned local business supporting other local and small businesses. The restaurant is expected to soft open February, 2025 – we’d be excited to have you as a part of our launch team!

Job Summary:

Wildflour seeks a dedicated and enthusiastic Pastry Assistant to join the team. The ideal candidate will support the Pastry Chef in the preparation and presentation of high-quality breads and pastries. This role requires a passion for baking, attention to detail, and a willingness to learn.

 
Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist in the preparation of a variety of pastries and breads for in-house sales and catering events
  • Measure and mix ingredients according to recipes
  • Maintain a clean and organized work area, ensuring all equipment and utensils are sanitized
  • Help with the decoration and presentation of finished products
  • Follow food safety and sanitation guidelines
  • Assist in monitoring inventory management
  • Participate in menu development and recipe testing
  • Collaborate with the kitchen team to ensure smooth operations
  • Support the Pastry Chef in training new staff members

 

Qualifications:

  • Previous experience in a bakery or kitchen.
  • Basic knowledge of baking techniques and pastry arts.
  • Strong attention to detail and a passion for creativity in food presentation.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and handle multiple tasks.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
  • Flexibility to work mornings, evenings, holidays and weekends as needed
  • Food Handler's Card/Certificate required

 

Physical Requirements:

  • Ability to stand for long periods
  • Capability to lift heavy items (up to 50 lbs)
  • Manual dexterity for precise tasks
