Lead Interpreter

Full-time

Skills and Requirements include:

• ASL fluency level appropriate for medical assignments .
• Proven ability to effectively interpret between ASL and English, as demonstrated by a national certification.
• Excellent customer service skills.
• Ability to work independently, including monitoring own schedule, arriving on-time to customer worksites, and patiently handling situations as they arise in the field.
• High-school diploma or equivalent required, bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Valid driver’s license and reliable transportation.
• Ability to travel to the Hampton Roads Peninsula daily. The majority of the appointments will be medical, between Williamsburg and Newport News/Hampton.

Duties and Tasks:

• Convey the message and intent of the speaker in a linguistically and culturally equivalent manner in English and/or ASL.
• Adhere to the ethical standards set by the RID-NAD Code of Professional Conduct.
• Provide excellent customer and consumer service as a representative of the company.
• Attend assigned interpreting engagements and complete required company reporting on-time.
• Perform administrative tasks or other duties as assigned.
